NKC Round 4 Shenington 2026: Results and Highlights

National Kart Cup Round 4 Delivers Tight Racing at Historic Shenington
The National Kart Cup completed Round 4 of its 2026 season at Shenington Kart Racing Club on 4-5 July, with competitive finals across five classes producing some of the closest finishes of the championship so far.
Held at the historic Edgehill Airfield site in Oxfordshire, the event featured a mixed-grid format covering Inter Rotax, Junior Rotax, Rotax 177, Senior Rotax and Senior TKM. Shenington, a club tracing its history to 1960, provided a fast and technically demanding circuit for the national-level programme of practice sessions, sprint heats and finals.
Senior TKM Produces the Weekend's Closest Finish
The most dramatic result of the weekend came in the Senior TKM Final. Charlie King took victory, but Al Paterson pushed him to the very last lap, crossing the line just 0.094 seconds behind. Michael Cornell completed the podium in third, only 0.339 seconds off the win. The top three were covered by less than four tenths of a second.
King also set the fastest lap of the final with a 45.990 on lap seven, making it a complete performance under intense pressure.
Junior Rotax: Hartshorne Dominates the A Final
Logan Hartshorne controlled the Junior Rotax A Final from the front, combining race pace with consistency to take both the win and the fastest lap. His best lap of 43.290 came on lap 16. Jenson Hookey finished second, 1.187 seconds behind, while Jack Dimbleby took third at 2.861 seconds.
In the Junior Rotax B Final, Lucy Lovell took the win in another strong result from the supporting finals.
Senior Rotax: Gifford Wins, Ticehurst Stands Out
Kieran Gifford won the Senior Rotax A Final after 18 laps, finishing 3.072 seconds ahead of Ksawery Wieczorek. Riley Thatcher completed the podium in third at 8.605 seconds.
Blake Ticehurst was one of the notable performers across the day. He won the Senior Rotax B Final ahead of Bobby Rosier and Brody Skinner, setting the fastest lap in that race with a 43.236. He then went on to record the fastest lap in the Senior Rotax A Final as well, with a 43.239 on lap 10.
Rotax 177 and Inter Rotax Round Out the Programme
Jason Gardner won the Rotax 177 Final after 18 laps, with Luc Oliver finishing 1.547 seconds behind and Richard Evans completing the podium at 1.757 seconds. Evans set the fastest lap of the race, a 44.051 on lap 15, showing strong pace in the closing stages.
In the Inter Rotax Final, Jack Daniels took the win after 17 laps. Alfie Filippsen finished second at 2.540 seconds, while Rishaan Khosla completed the podium at 9.061 seconds. The fastest lap went to Zane Williams with a 45.848 on lap 12, though Williams received a 10-second penalty for causing a collision.
What Round 4 Showed About the 2026 Season
Round 4 at Shenington reinforced the National Kart Cup's standing as one of the most competitive platforms in UK karting. The mixed-grid format created varied challenges through the heats, and the finals rewarded drivers who combined speed, race craft and consistency.
The Senior TKM Final, covered by less than four tenths of a second across the top three, was the standout result of the weekend. The Rotax 177 podium was equally tight, with the top three separated by under two seconds.
